P53 enfield rounds maybe? no lubrication rings. Do they weigh around 30 grammes? 1850s 1860s my guess. love those old bullets.

I once pulled about 25 out of one hole between the golf club and bot gardens, fairly close to the settlers memorial.

No rings.

33g. That would hurt.

Those lead bullets are all over the country I think.
I have found plenty in Auckland.
Some I have are un fired and complete with the small wood compression plug in the back.

"The Enfield Pattern 1853 Rifle-Musket was a .577 calibre muzzle-loading rifle-musket, used by the British Empire from 1853 to 1867. The same muskets were used in New Zealand during the Land Wars between the Maori's and the English between 1843 and the early 1900's." ex Wikipedia

Unfortunate NZ history relics.

Heres a link to one i found a few years ago, slightly predates the ones you've found, and they're not too common as the army only used them for a couple of years.

About 14.51mm = 0.57"

It appears they are called "Minie balls"

http://www.s1kilwinning....et-and-minie-balls-.html

This guy sells loads of different ones. There's a couple on this page that look similar but the one I found intact have almost spherical fronts rather than a cone-shape.

Also the inner cavity is a truncated-cone shape.
