does anyone know of any skirmish/battle sites on pubic land in or around rotorua that would be ok to metal detect on wouldn't mind finding some musket balls and other wartime relics any feedback would be appreciated

Plenty of skirmishes at the te teko tavern thats on public land and near by lol.
How about trying the site of the battle of gate pa there is a park just your side of mitre 10 on Cameron road in Tauranga, plenty of artifacts have been dug up from around there during house construction, may be worth a try

My flat mate recons there was a few early battles around Ford road (no i'm serious) so if there is a park near to there maybe give that a try however this is historicly a sensitive site if you know what I mean, Let me know how you get on.

Fordlands? Yup, a lot of recent battles as well! Will have to keep the Lesche sharpened to detect there :)
