I wonder how it would do under a bit of pressure, like trying to run a suction nozzle or power jet. Looks all right for lifting water to run through a sluice box or high banker.

The only bonus of this pump is that it would be quiet & that in itself could be useful in a small creek where you arent really supposed to be. You know what I mean??
Mem, It sounds like you are going to need a truck to cart all your gear. Keep it simple mate

Interesting and I could surely think of it as having a great deal of value for gold mining applications - I could see it as marvellous for supplying water up to a canvas lined or plastic lined temporary holding dam or to a 44gallon drum to run a cradle so that the cradle has a constant supply of water without any need to transfer the water to it in the manner the old timers...and me later on...did.
In short I like it.

re: guy trying to sell his "dbest pump":

i've seen this before. the guy's nuts. up the ladder there's hardly any flow left. and what if he gets his drill wet. love how he demonstrates so well how fast u actually need to spin the handle to get a decent flow. good for a laugh but dunno if i'd buy it. or even try to make a cheap ripoff.

i guess it may have its uses. any ideas?

G'day Simon, Yer I have seen that too. I wasnt too impressed either. But as Lammerlaw said it would be ok for getting water up to a water storage area or if you are working a higher bank deposit away from the river then you could pump the water to you sluice box.
