we are from south westland and now live in ch ch we go home most weekends fishing and look for some gold but with doc and all these big time mines locking everything up where do we go. all we want is a piece of ground we can play without all the hassel and maybe find some gold.

Hi dazza

Welcome to the site i my self dont know much about how to get a prospecting or mining licence but there are heaps of help full people on this site. I used to live in greymouth and head over there as much as i can do a bit of fishing hunting and gold fossicking spend some time at the public fossicking areas or have a look at the permit maps on this web site and have a go in some of the areas that arnt under claim i find if you keep it simple and dont piss anybody off you sort of get left alone but most of the places i go are in the middle of know where so dont see to much people. Hope some body cant help as i said this is a good place to ask questions.

Regards Stuart.

there's a lot of paper work and mucking around to get a claim just when you think it's sorted they want more and more lol guess it's part of the fun.... best bet is get hold of a claim owner down them ways (look up the crown minerals map has all the details)and see what sort of deals they would like for you to fossic on there claim
