north island gold?

A prospecting shaft was put in during the 1880's and although some was found it was not profitable to mine and was abandoned.

Put a sluice box in for shits and giggles...you may find colour. Reasons for no obvious AU????possible that the host rock for the quartz is not very mineralised or needs more metamorphosis, or there has yet to be enough erosion and deposition over time for the Au to accumulate, you never know, there might be a few wee hidden veins that are locally rich and has not eroded enough to be traced far down stream, I would do quite a few test holes to be sure, there may be other mineralisation of interest too...happy hunting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vein_%28geology%29

Mite go up the mohaka for a look soon to.
