Hi everybody,

Greetings from Austria, I spent some days Prospecting in Austrias gold bearing areas and caught me the fever!
Due to my girlfriends current job location in Auckland I will spend some time in NZ and would be very happy to find some time for gold-panning.

It would be great if you could point me to locations which are not too inaccessible.
I had some look on the public gold fossicking areas but they seem quite spread out, i guess i maybe could only visit one.
Also it would be great if you could tell me if there is any possibilty around Auckland area where i could look for some gold without getting in trouble with law or other folks.

Me and my girlfriend will spend about 2 weeks traveling in the south, she is a hiking fan and maybe you guys and girls now a place where i could pan some gold while she is climbing a nice mountain. We might rent a campervan to get around which makes it hard to get on bumpy roads i guess.

would be very happy for every tips on locations or things to visit while being over in your land!
I hope no one gets angry with me for all the asking, i am not sure if its okay for you if "tourists" like me join your forum.
