Last weekend I went gold detecting for the first time. I was in a pretty well picked over area but still managed to a nugget.

Well done brid; Is that standard Gold Bug, the GB 2 or the new 'pro'?.
Hope to see more pics of your finds.

Stumbler,
There are actually 3 versions of the new Gold Bug, the regular one which I have, and the DP and Pro which I think are the same thing but with different coils and allegedly go a little deeper. I asked one of the tech guys at Fisher if the Pro was worth the extra money and he essentially said no. I have been scheming to get a crate of the new Gold Bugs shipped in to NZ to sell for about 6 months. It is looking like they might be here in a week or two if anybody wants one.

JW,
Sorry but no, I have never lived in Dunedin.

I was trying to get a GoldBug SE just before xmas, but for the life of me I could not get a shipping rate from anyone, I do recall the price in NZ$ was somewhere around NZ$750.00 without shipping...how much are you looking at selling them for?

Sweet little nugget, how much did it weigh? Let me know when you find out prices for the gold bugs could be interested in one.

Cheers
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

I am not sure how much is weighs. I am really glad I have it because now I know what a gold signal looks and sounds like. Kind has me wanting to go out and look for more though. I found a couple 1 cent and 2 cent coins over the weekend, but it isn't quite as exciting as finding a nugget.

I don't exactly know how much the Gold Bugs will cost, I haven’t gone through all the shipping, duty, gst etc before and am going to have to just wait and tally it up. Right now it is looking like it will be in the NZ$800 range. I should be able to give you a better answer in a couple of weeks.

I now have some of the new Gold Bugs if anyone is interested in getting one. They are $800 delivered anywhere in NZ.

Yes, I could be keen also. I wouldn't mind doing a bit of detecting down Otago way next summer. Feel free to send me a PM about the details.
