Ive got the bug for a beach hunt! Anyone feel like it?!
This Wednesday night from around 630 til whenever.
It should be warm, low tide might be around 9pm (something like that).
I realise the good old stuff might be out of reach but I guess like fishing you just never know...!
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

Sounds like fun! I'll try to get permission from the handbrake.

Be great to see you fullas there! Cant wait to see the latest GPS enabled driftwood detector in action! ;-P

As to start place, perhaps park just south of the pier on the side of the road. Wherever there is some parking for a few cars? Is that the best bet folks?

Anyways Ill be starting detecting somewhere just south of the pier and head slowly northwards so youll see me :o)

Gavin, you should be able to adjust the GPX settings to be better on the beach than anything else?

It's got a "salt-gold" setting?

You might be able to pull up the really deep fake roman/greco coins? :)

Which is the most popular beach, crowd wise?

Well, I got their early - took the wife and kids to the beach. We were at the surf club just north of the pier and I found a $3 pocket spill and nothing else. Left the family at the paddling pool about 6:15 and was planning to cadge a lift back home with Ash, but just as I was about 30m north of all you guys the wife rang on the phone saying my 6yo had slipped in the pool and bit into his tongue badly, so I had to make a beeline for the car and take him to the emergency dept.

You buggers had better not have found any gold!

Sorry to hear that andy, hopefully a speedy recovery!

Bloody terrible idea to go beach hunting haha! no gold or silver or iPods or anything!

Myself got about 6 coins for $2.10

Conclusion is people in Chch don't take their valuables to the beach. Or the sand was just 2 metres to high ;-)
