Hi all & a very happy & golden new year,
Went out on the last day of 2012 & got 4 little blighters. On new years day I went & visited a mate who got 2.5 ounces for five 6 hour days dredging. Wow....that got me going. So I headed for the hills with my detector for a couple of hours & snagged only one piece. A nice little specimen.

Headed out a couple of days ago & managed 7 little bits for just over 2 grams. Still swinging the GPX 4500 with 11" commander mono. Loving that combination at the moment. I think the 11" is the optimum size coil for small gold at depth. 4 of these bits were found in the same area that I had been over with the 4000 when I found 9 pieces. One was even in an old dig hole & 2 were only about 30 cm away in a deeper buried crevice. The signal was so very faint & almost nothing at all. I investigated & out popped a little nugget. I re scanned the dig before back filling & there was another beautiful faint gold sounding signal & out popped another one from the same crevice.

Nice going John. Interesting how the difference between the two detectors and the different coils, is making your old spots worth going back to.
