I took my mother in law back home to Murchison after Christmas and popped down to look at the flows at the Mangles. I knew that the rivers were up so I didn't take any of my scratching gear with me but went to look down at the swing bridge anyway. I was standing on the bridge, looked down and there was a chap making himself very busy. Had some good looking Garrett pans and classifier and other equipment so looked pretty serious.
Went down to say "gidday", as one does and chatted for a bit. He is a member on our forums, introduced himself as Nuggethead and he was going to be around for a couple of weeks. Shame I was heading back home that day.
But, taking the family there tomorrow, so kids can spend more time with Nana, wife can go mountain biking on the new Lyell track and, I can get down the river. Hopefully the Mangles and the Buller have dropped enough to scratch around.
