Hi all, Thanks for the support and commiserations. Have just returned from a dredge trip, got a few grams, so havnt lost the urge. The police were helpful but not a lot they can do. Off back down for another look next week and to speak to some people that have been in the area lately. I did find marks that looked like quad bike tires, little skids ,like some one taking off, maybee draging dredge out of the water. bike would have to of come from nieghbours track, only access for miles,or straight up up hill through bush -gorse pines and more gorse. Its a shame that this area is not secure anymore a bit patchy but some nice gold to be had, Again thanks everyone--onwards and upwards

that's the spirit garry.

i know it's always a risk stashing your gear somewhere.

i hope you find enough to replace it all. sure sucks though as i know a dredge ( like most gold gear) is a finely tuned piece of equipment. i hope it doesn't take too much to get set up perfect again.

have you though of some sort of camera setup. you could prob have a motion sensor and utilise some solar power to keep it all charged.

i'm sure you will have doubts on leaving more gear in the same location now these dodgy buggers know you're there.

i've got a feeling stuff like this would show up eventually, just might take some time. is there a local pub worth visiting for info via the local gossip mill?. i'm sure someone must be spilling some beans somewhere. unless the thieves have somewhere pretty hidden this is going to pop up somewhere in transit or storage perhaps.

Hey

You should buy a couple of game cameras , motion sensitive , high resolution night and day units. I've tried a couple on my claims to see who's snooping around . If you have cell reception you can even put a sim card in them now that sends a photo back to your phone. Check out trade me, they takes great photos of licence plates of trailers with dredges on them getting backed down into the river... Anywhere from $200 to $1500 each. Just don't set them up infront of branch that catches the wind otherwise you end up with 500 photos of crap..

Cheers. DGR

Hi Garry, Thats great news. I know the gutted felling of having gear "stolen". Do hope you get it all back & all in one piece. You are dead right, Lose lips sink ships, not a truer word spoken. Good for you. Fingers crossed.

Good luck out there

Hi all, where to start, NO1 i have recoverd my dredge today. Three and hours of bush bashing through gorse-broom long grass, wet up to my bits and there it was stashed in some gorse, disassemlbed but all ther, their is a gold God. 2.5 hours later, a bit of sweat and tears it was sitting in my sons truck. POLICE are looking at charging the people involved---farmer---2 pighunters, i dont care, ive got all my gear back and all above board on my part. I understand these people moved it xmas week . Last night one of said persons was a bit shocked when he was told what is was all worth and i was going to hire a friends chopper for a few hours this weekend, He was a bit shaken, me thinks there might be some funny plants close by, thank christ im out of there when the shite hits the fan its not going to be pretty Im not going to add names

Good on you, you are very lucky indeed most would never see there gear again and you managed to get it back reasonably quick. (probably felt like forever)
hope it wasnt the farmer you had private access through that was involved!!.
hope you get back on the water soon.

Good work Mate, good CSI on the pig hunter clues...I hope these people, farmer included are fully prosecuted to the the extent of the law and sends a message to these types of cowboys that we will not be F'ed with. Make sure the police involved are not 'mates' with the perps...Name and shame the farmer and hunters on this forum so we are aware of who these buggers are :)
