Morris and Watson in Auckland do refining and coin making. Could be an option?

If its platinum then it will be heavier than gold in volume.

well youre the right end of the country to get platinum, have you checked to make sure its not gold with mercury stuck to it?
contact a refinery they should be able to do it, also some jewelers may be able to help.
you got any pics?

Gold with mercury On it looks a hell of a lot like platinum, but even so with platinum floating around 55-60 bucks a gram and gold close to 70 , you've got something good
