This some of last summers gold that I got from the river that runs through the city. It's fine to very fine flour,
most of it's -30 to -100 mesh with a few +30s. There is just over 10g in this pan.

lazyD:

that's a lot of fine gold. are you running a dredge i presume? (or you love lots of tedious panning).

you've got that all super clean. do you use a table or wheel to clean it?

i used to mine that fine stuff when i started out but i ended up spending all my time running magnets and manually blowing on it to clean it of quartz particles and sands.

found the lure of the bigger stuff too much and moved on but i'm always impressed at anyone that can accumulate the fines. after all gold is gold. a bottle of fines is awefully heavy when compared to a bottle of nuggets that's for sure.

Hey Simon
I run a 12" highbanker and it's all hand shoveled. It runs about a gram per cubic yard of gravel. So it
takes a few days of shoveling to accumulate any decent amount of gold. For final clean up I use a small
vibrating miller table.
I wish we had bigger stuff around here, all the gold here is from glacial till so all we get is flour and the odd
small flake. But it's enogh to keep me going.

Hi there LazyD, Welcome to Paydirt. I would have to say that your user name doesnt suit you LOL :) To be shoveling in to a highbanker for a day or two or three to get that amount of fine gold. Good effort & thanks for sharing. Any chance you would kindly put some pics up of your highbanker operation??

Good luck out there & a very merry xmas to you

JW :)

Here's one from this summer (took it on cell phone so it's not the best) on the river that runs through the city.
