Only managed to get away for a day this weekend so hit the same place I did last week.

Not quite so good results but still lots of fun.

The flat wee nugget on the left was picked up using the detector, all the rest was the result of digging out likely looking spots and panning.

P.S. These blue pans are awesome for cleaning up the gold! Easy to see all the fine black sands you want to get rid of. Black on black always meant I'd never get the gold 100% clean, always a bit of fine black sand in there.

nice gavin.

maybe you need to try a sluice box in that spot on your next trip there if you are getting that much gold from panning.

nice work Gavin,
There are days you will come back with that amount and other day you can count them one 1 hand, and one day you'll come out with a really nice nugget, but unless you remove the dirt away to get down you won't ever find that nugget
But I'm glad you had a nice weekend

Paul

Cheers for the tip. Took a sluicebox in but was only a trickle of water this time. Also took some tarp in, but think it would have been hard to get enough flow. Think I need to go in a bit nearer to rainy weather ;)

Don't you worry, I'll be in there again with some toys to move the boulders ;) Just a bit limited for time this weekend. Bizarrely enough I've only encountered a few sand-flies there all 3 visits. What's going on - this is the west coast right?! I was expecting to be lathered up with insect repellent as is normally the case! :P I'm not complaining!

Cheers Paul :)

yes Gavin, it is bizarre, for some reason the sand-flies don't seem to bite there, it,s only that area, don't know why, maybe they're well fed there I don't Know, there must be some reason, maybe it's the breed.
Cheers Gavin for the pics
