Hi guys
Ive been doing a fair bit of walking around the hills lately trying to find a descent place for the dredge, found a gorgey section of river that has a heap of pothole things bored into the rock by turbulent water.
Was just woundering if anyone has mucked around digging them out and if they are worth the effort? they are all varying sizes and depths and are filled with gravel and some with larger rocks.
access is crap so pretty limited to a pan or maybe a small sluice if i can be bothered carrying it in, my dredge is a few hundred meters downstream and ill be busy with that was gunna get my helper to dig the potholes if they are any good or it may be better for him to clean some cracks?.
heres a photo of what i mean most are above the waterline although seen some not far away in the bottom of the river.
also a random pic of the dredge goin in.
any thoughts? cheers

the holes seem high on the rivers edge, so maybe a big flood may have washed some nice gold into the holes there worth a clean out, i have same sort of holes were i go in the clay and have had 3 and a half grams from one hole after a flood. see i can be nice and full of good advice peace lol :)

Get em cleaned out. They look like they are facing the right way to trap some gold-I like the look of the big one on the right!

On the other hand I've cleaned out some holes like that which should have made me a millionaire and found nothin, get your minion to work!
And while hes at it have a look @ that crevice running down to the left from centre top...

are there more below waterline? would be worth finding out.

depending on how remote your spot is i have found anything obvious above water has been usually dug out in the past.

then again whats been deposited since?! theres gravels in them at least. doesn't look too packed but you never know at the bottom. i've found big bits in the weirdest places, like on top of loose pebbles that were void of gold. you just never know.

Those potholes do look good. Love to clean them out. There are some I am wanting to get back to in Murch but the timing has never been right with the river too high to get at them. A couple that I did clean out did give me some gold. And I didn't have a sucker. So I really want to get back to them.

Happy hunting

fingers crossed the weather and rivers behave for once, hopefully ill be spending the weekend up there, not looking forward to the scrub bashing and the climb back up the hill :(
If i have any luck ill post some pics
