Hey there, does anyone know of a reputable coin dealer in Auckland. I have found a 1933 NZ shilling, which was the first year of issue, and apparantly quite valuable.

you must have been out early bazza. good find.
I LOve the web.
Answer:
A New Zealand 1933 50% silver Shilling (George V), uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch up to $500 NZD. If it has been circulated but still in good condition, it might fetch anything from $5 to $80 NZD.

There were 2 million minted.

A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation.

NOTE - 1933 was the first year of issue of the New Zealand Shilling.

Excellent find Bazza.
If they are a bit rare and you don't sell it you may be one of a few who can make up a complete date set of NZ coins for 1933.
