went for an evening hunt tonight and within 15mins had a nice wee stirling silver ring, just needs a wee straighten :) and had been hitting the odd penny here n there, the usual pulltab tinfoil and chopped up crap bits of ufo when suddenly boom the F2 rung out a beautiful high 83/86 tone and I thought naaa a signal like that at 3 inches is too good to be true....cut down about 5 inches flipped the plug and seen this. Beowwwtaful :-D

makes hunting in the rain covered in sticky mud alllllll worth it :)

Lovely sterling half!

Was it in a Timaru park, or closer to home?

Wonderful to capture it where it lay for all those years.
Pure detecting porn.

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

thanks guys yes was very cool to see it lying there in centre of plug I'd just finished thinking to myself naa a signal like that in a well hunted area is simply too good to be true.

Cept I know of 2 others that were found nearby in the last 2 days. Some days I think I must walk around with my detector off!

Detecting porn..yes I like that one haha

For those of you who don't know...my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/u...onicboating?feature=mhee has heaps of vids of my old spots and finds..good for rainy day viewing. The next vid I make will be number 50 so I have a wee prize jacked up for one lucky commenter/subscriber :)

It was the other silver that got me fizzing...dug that and then had a penny signal beside it...cool I thought a pocket spill...dug the penny and then beside that hit another signal...low, gold tone, deep...holy shit have I have I have I dig dig dig flip scrape scrape dig dig some more careful now don't damage it oooooh whats that I see yellow YESSS ahhhh fuck NOOoooooo it's yellow tinfoil. Shit.

Cheers
Dan

MADSONIC,

yeah, don't believe anyone when they say something is worked out. i hear the same in gold detecting.

everyone misses targets. every detector also misses targets. many people don't use their detector properly. some don't have overlapping swings, some don't have the detector skimming the ground surface and lose depth, and it goes on.

i reckon there are more things that affect it all too, such as atmospheric conditions, i.e. storms, after the rain, are 2 instances where the detector is more sensitive. in the case of mine perhaps too sensitive.

and, there's nothing better than hitting a worked out spot and proving everyone wrong.

Forget coin hunting, you have a promising chick-lit career ahead of you. Or maybe Penthouse forum letter writing.

Or as Monty Python would have it, "...and his right hand waiting. The gentleman with the melon switches on the battery and places his left thigh on the edge of the swivel table, keeping the neck of the stuffed goose absolutely clear..."

Most detectors are black, green or yellow. Wonder if you can get one in 50 Shades of Grey???? :)
