A kind man on this forum sold me a dredge in winter.
Seeing as the sun was shining and i had a few spare minutes between jobs i angle grinded all the layers or paint off my dredge frame.

the dredge is an old keene 2.5 inch. the type where they still had the dredge floating on an inner tyre tube.

So this is the frame that the dredge mounts onto and is attached to the tube.

My problem is not too complex. all i need is recommendations on the best way to prep and paint the metal. It's about a 1/2 inch box steel frame.

i want to galv paint it.

of course the original primer was ground off.

i had to do that as some parts of metal had a small amount of surface rust. amazingly other pieces were perfect. that's just the nature of steel i think.

so if anyone has ideas. plus the best place to source primer and galv paint?

much appreciated thanks in advance.

Hi Simon, I just use Galvit spay can primer - 2 coats, then put Gold X or whatever on as top coat. Or to get real flash - take it to a sand blaster painter and get them to put "2 pot tar" on it Ultra Tar or similar. It's hard wearing, just give it a few days to harden up before touching it. NUGGY
