Steve and Jason, meteorite men.

A very cool show. Was back on last night and always top viewing. Steve and Jason sure no what there doing and last show found a substantial size meteorite, looked like a couple of hundred pounds. Cool job, cruising the world lookin for rocks using giant detector coils.

Did you see the last episode of meteorite men. It just gets cooler and cooler. The detectors they come up with/or build are just amazing. Last time they were using a, hang on i get me info;
An Ironometer. Looks like a steel pole that reads approx 15m under.
A PM 30 (cant remember) something bla bla bomb detecting machine, goes real deep.
A GPR, ground positionining radar that goes approx 15m under.

Looking forward to their next show.

Magnetomoter.

Or more likely a gradiometer. The pole would be plastic, a steel one would interfere with measurements.

Displays the difference in magnetic flux between a sensitive detector at the bottom of the tube and another one up closer to the electronics box on top.

You can see them being used on Time Team, to do magnetic survey maps.

Like I said before, I have 2 of these... http://deepers.com/English/Mag505.eng.html ... in case someone wants to go hunting for buried WWII jeeps or tanks.
