...Don't know too much about it, but can remember going there a number of years ago and recall seeing some streams with "Permission to fossick around" use of hand equipment only, eg pan, shovel & sluce box. Should be something on internet about recreational panning in that area.
Looking forward to the pics.............lol

hi i live in kumara, west coast theres only the goldsborough, and moonlight, fosicking areas to play in the rest of the land is almost all under claims, only chance you have is asking whoever owns the claim to let you play round on his land. but finding out whos claim is what comes down to local knowledge. im lloking at getting my own dredge claim ill start off by getting a prospecting permit to dredge then maybe the rest :)

wasting your time getting a prospecting permit, pretty sure youre not aloud to use a dredge under prospecting permit, you can with exploration permit but limited to 2 cubic meters per day. you also still need any consents required and land access agreements with doc or linz, youre better off to spend the extra 1500 and get a mining permit right at the start. you need to do your homework and have a look at what you can and cant do under prospecting and exploration.

i agree better to go for Mining Permit, also you will pay $500 to crown minerals for rental or $10 hectare per year what ever is the larger
so peg 50Ha.
