I've had a quick look on the permit maps and it appears it doesn't have a claim on it and it's not a fossicking zone, yet I've seen a video on youtube of a guy dredging in there. I wouldn't think people would be putting videos out in the public if they're breaking laws. Apologies if the guy is on this forum lol, I wasn't trying to bring any attention to him, just curious about the situation with the river.

Seems like a nice little schisty creek kind of like the Arrow, might have to check it out while I'm down there.... any fish about? what's the didymo situation like?

Any relevant info is much appreciated!!!!

all those waterways are claimed. you name a river round here and sure as hell it will be claimed.

shotover / arrow / moke / moonlight / stony / and even all those creeks up glenorchy way. all claimed. every last inch.

check out the permit map on the forum.

you're prob better off out of the creeks with a detector really. loads of land that has never seen a detector.

Ah yep I see it now, I must have been looking under the wrong permit filter or having a pleasant halucination before (seeing no red colour).

Regarding the claim owner that would make sense as the youtube video user name was similar to the one mentioned above. Thanks guys, probably saved me having a shotgun unloaded in my direction haha.

I'm too skint for a detector, just bought another fly rod haha. A nice little 4 weight, maybe suitable for some little creeks such as Moke creek, if it has any fish?

Mole creek is so full of didymo it's almost unreal. You can not pick up a single rock in that river without there being a good chunk of it on it. It's a real shame that little river was so nice :( Daniel said to me he wants to keep working it but it's a bit dangerous with the didymo .
