went out this arvo to south hagley with nzpoobear and found a few coins inc 4 silvers and this beuty.
it came out of the same hole as a 1879 penny. as far as i can tell its a 1806 george III penny in pretty bad shape.
you can just make out the head and on the other side just make out the woman sitting. deffinatly makes this me oldest coin.
also it is quite a bit bigger than a normal penny.

so your sure it is a penny..lol...it was a lot bigger and thicker than a penny....great find though and bloody old...

the only decent thing i got today other than my 4 silvers was that south african 1 rand coin..lol...and you with the USA dime or as we called them 10 cent piece...but that penny is awasome...

That's a real old coin well done! I don't think itl happen but I'd love to get a 1700's coin and thats damn close!
I didn't get out today but the rain better stay away tomorrow for my day of hunting somewhere!
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!

when you look alot closer at the coin it matchs what i was looking at on computer. you can see the wreath around his head
and just after that date the lady sits the other way looking right where as she looks left on my coin, same as the 1806. you can also just see the top of the 6 in the date. very cool.

I thought I'd struck the jackpot when I saw this in a hole, but lifted it out to find it was plated aluminium :(

hi crispy, i think its a 1806 halfpenny,if theres anything left the easiest thing to see is the three ones on top of the bust
