Hi folks, I'm a Technology School Teacher and Pastor here in Aucks, have been Detecting for a number of years now, like to hit the beaches in summer time and search out for "relics" with permission from farmer/landowner.
Found bunched of coins, jewelery and a number of relics.
Detecting's a great hobby, good exercise, lots of fun.
Yet to gold detect but have been panning etc....didn't strike it rich, still Teaching Tech lol.
Son-in-Law coming @ Christmas (hopefully) bringing a Whites 300? with him. Yes!
I dropped my Minelab in beach water yesterday looking for shallow water rings, all I got were two small "Gas" bottles :-(
Looking forward to catching up.....

Hiya, I am also in Auckland and new to detecting. I was given a garrett at pro a couple of weeks ago as a fortieth birthday present. I went straight out into the back yard and found four pennies. 1941 and 1950 nz 1927 aussie and 1860 uk.
I went to the park today for my first public park hunt and found a silver ring and two silver shillings. Both NZ 1934 and 1937. Also a penny and half penny and a few one and two cent coins. The two shillings and the penny were within 20cm of each other.
I have found the information in this forum very valuable.
What more can I say?...... I'm hooked.

I'm on the shore too. Have been at this for a few months, and mostly found a lot of crap. But I keep going...
