Interesting is all I can say - Love my whitebaiting.

It almost is white gold but in keeping with family policy we dont believe in selling it and give it as gifts to those elderly who cannot get it for themselves - I must have given away thousands of dollars worth last year - its good to see you getting some - theres a taste there and a taste is better than nothing.

Great going!

Give me a fish fillet any time!
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

A friend of mine can get me some from the West Coast at $30 a pound. Cooked up a nice feed. It was frozen when I got it but thawed out and cooked up nicely. Love to be able to catch the little bleeders myself but I can find a fish hook small enough

When I was a kid I used to take them out of the bucket when Dad was catching them and then take a mouthful of water and have half a dozen swimming around in my mouth then swallow them - they used to tickle my mouth swimming around!

In the old days the Maoris used to freeze them. Most of you who go whitebaiting will know the fish called 'silveries' these were also dried in the sun and eaten - to eat them they took the head and twisted it slightly then pulled it from the body and it in turns pulls the intestines out as well and then they ate the fish

Im impressed with the policy that you and your family have in giving to the elderly, that is something that is very rare to see these days.If I could catch pounds and pounds of the little buggars my family and friends would also enjoy them as well.Hopefully the season will get better in the coming weeks
