you pay you can play ...hmmm im sure iv heard that fraze before Jd but not at the river!....it would be impossible to manage unless you had someone there evryday watching and that could incompase k,s of riverbed if youv read this "poaching post" youl get the jist of what happens when there is $$ involved...if people have the gall to hop onto a liget claim and go to town imagine what it,d be like for a smallish fee and then help your self lol im sure a bunch of you guys are good bloke,s that play by some rules but in reality there are plenty that dont play the same game and the like,s of doc im sure would be getting highly aroused behind some bush or rock at the thought of busting some dredgers putting to much turbidity in the water or boring into banks, making hole,s to deep moving to much gravle in 1 day etc etc to keep there job a little longer and before you no it dredging will be banned...look up the 49ers in the state,s its exactly what they were doing....its a great idea but look what happend to them:(

The more i think about the more i can see that GBM is right you guys, it would be very hard for you to make sure that 1person (thats all it takes) dosent ruin it for all, also to if it was the 1st of its kind in nz then im sure the spotlight would be on you and the magnifying glass out looking for the slightest mistakes. also to you are trying to stop poaching by doing this and GBM is right about fees why would they do it when they can poach for free duz seem kinda silly.
but hey if if a few of you out there really want a claim to go to then y dont you team up and go part shares in a claim between 4 or 5 people? that would ease the financial constraints if all costs got evenly spread. just make sure you all have an understanding of how it would work before you enter into it. for example do you get to keep all gold you find or dose a percentage have to go to the group/ how you would share time on the claim/ how to settle any disputes that arise or all manage to agree on something will there be a leader etc
youl have to remember too that most RMA consents will probably only allow you to have 1 or 2 dredges at any time, if in otago the permited activity rule allows for multiple dredges providing they are more then 500m apart. just something to think about as it would be a much better option then a club, i know i will be highly farked off if i got banned from dredging becouse 20idiots that belong to a club pissed off the greenies.

one snail on the coast can stop a multimillion dollar company from mining just think how little it will take to stop dredging.

i know of heapsa people who have got claims and dont have a problem at all, it takes alot of time to set up your dredge move it into the spot and then dredge then pull it apart stash it all in one day so i dont see how 20 "idoits" can do that all on the same day when majority of people work for a living and looking for gold is a hobby,

allrighty were looking at leasing a bit of our claim my mate just ordered a 5inch proline dredge from the states its getting flowen here, so our old keene 4inch will be up for lease aswell got dive set up and everything all the bells and whistles we will put a thing up here for tender soonish also got a keene 4inch dredge everything except a motor for sale if that is what you are after

Well that is certainly handy to the big southern town with easy road access. A southern dredge man would have to have a look at least.

I also have a claim up the waka, I caught same guy last year on my claim 10 meters away from a mining permit sign... when asked: Did you not see that mining permit sign he replied: I didn't take any notice of that....!!!
Since then I have 3 security cameras operating on my claim these are only looking for mining claim poachers nothing else... (moultrie.co.nz or trademe a good place to start for cameras).

There are still parts of the Wakamarina river area that do not have river mining permits common sense tills most people why not go and scratch around on unclaimed parts rather then someones hard earned river claim.

This summer will be interesting must get some bullets for my riffle in case I see some feral things to shoot!.
