I am keen to buy a detector for gold just gold and have spoken to a few people steve from waka sugests gold bug pro this is the responce i got from the gold bug people what do you all think what should i buy as im no exspert in this area

Well, in theory the Gold Bug 2 is more sensitive than the new Gold Bug series and will find smaller nuggets. But that difference is pretty slim and in practice we couldn't tell them apart. The Gold Bug 2 is a bit sturdier and has an extra long cable so you can put the controller in a back pack when working in water, but the new Gold Bugs cost a good bit less. I have used them both and if I were getting one I would go with the new Gold Bug because it is a light handy little thing and is also really good for coins etc.

The new Gold Bug series consists of three models; the Gold Bug, the Gold Bug Pro (same thing but with updated software) and the Gold Bug DP (Same as the Pro but with an 11" coil). I asked an engineer at Fisher if the Pro was worth the extra money and he said he didn't think so, but technically it is an upgrade from the regular Gold Bug. The difference in price is $750 vs $875.
I spend alot of time in river beds with pans and occasonaly sluce box but im keen to try somthing different I have hired a detector from hire quipt but found every thing but gold and I brought a dick smith detector which I gave to my boy for his birthday and I had a play with it to, so help me exsperienced ones advice please jd
