I figured it should enable me to work a bit more efficiently than shovelling stuff into a sluice box and having to classify it, but as I've never fossicked in my life (lol) I'm hardly qualified to have an informed opinion.

yep, imported one last summer. seemed like a good idea at the time. there is also one for sale on trade me at mo for $250 i think.

it's good for sucking paydirt off shallow bedrock after most has been shoveled off. or for cleaning crevices.

i got the bits that allow you to suck and dump into a sluice box. and a viewer. good to have in my shed of tools but you can always make something similar. at the time i had a project on involving shallow bedrock and had little time to perfect one myself.

Hey Simon,

Yeah I saw the one on trademe. May I ask which site you ordered it off? It does seem to pay get quotes from various places as the shipping seems to fluctuate quite a lot! Is the sucker fairly sturdy?

exactly keith. that's where i use mine. got to work to your best while sticking to the rules. only good for crevices and stuff. if you can get a shovel in i would shovel and then suck up the material i miss once on bedrock.

put a mask on and you can target just the gold underwater. good for patches of fine stuff.

just got to watch you don't attach the bucket to yourself and it drags you off with it downriver.
