Hi guys, Leaving on the 11" commander mono I headed on up the Arrow River to some old sluiced workings. Got nothing but attacked by sandflies, briar rose, blackberry & gorse bushes. So that wasnt very good. On the way back out l stopped off at a river crossing & did two pans. Got colour in both pans so must return to that spot with a sluice box.
Then headed to one of my old haunts & managed 5 bits. The biggest bit was found just on dark. I scanned over the top of a slab of schist about 1 inch in height sitting on top of exposed bed rock from the old timers having sluiced off down to bedrock on the top edge of a tailings race . I got no signal at all. Kicked the rock off & into the tail race, rescanned where the rock was & got a very positive but dodgy sounding signal. As I dug down the signal became a very gold like sounding signal. Smashing in to the schist crevice peeling away the on end layers of schist I was very confident now that it was going to be gold. Down about 8" the signal was out & it was a piece of gold. The enitial dodgy signal was probably because the gold was on edge in the layers of schist. It was just over 1 gram. Three of the smaller bits were all in one crevice. Total was 2.2 grams

Nice pickers JW - moving south was the right thing to do. I've got crap weather over here and a hell dose of the flu, so the computer is the best I can do for a couple of days :-(
Not so bad though, when I get to see what You and the rest have been getting. NUGGY

Thanks Nuggy, Yes we have a crap day in QT as well. Moving south for the gold was a good move. Glad winter is coming to an end though, being a builder & all that. Hope you shake that flu. There are some nasty ones going around.

All the best.

JW :)
