Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could give any insight/personal experience in securing a gold claim (process, costs, loss of sleep etc)
Any information would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

im sure others will reply with more accurate info but i was on the assumption it cost about $3500 to put in an application and even then you are not guaranteed to get one and that it was not easy

hi treeman,

your use of the word easy may be it's last association with the words gold and permit.

the permit is the easy part.

permits and their multitude of problems, costs, and who else needs your money as fees, are explained over many of the past threads. there is some good info in there so it's worth having a trawl thru the old posts.

Getting the gold permit is the relatively easy part, provided you can find something unclaimed in the area you want to be in. Bare in mind, or should it be Beer in Hand, this will depend largely on how u propose to work it, and what u propose in your works programme.

I got a suction dredge claim processed on the Arrow River without to many hassles from Crown Minerals, but the more difficult step is then getting all your access arrangements sorted, and if required resource consents.

Fortunately the district plans in our area allow for suction dredge mining, with up to a 6" dredge and 10 HP motor, so Resource Consent was a non issue for my proposal.

Gaining the access aggreements from afected parties wasnt to complicated, but did take time, so be prepared for DOC or LINZ to takes months upon months.
