Just joined your forum and after reading some of the posts it inspired me to get off my butt and go out for a quick search around the Mana Channel area.
After half an hour I found my first gold ring. It's a man's wedding band and I would say it has probably been there for a while.
It was only about 5cm into the dirt but fairly stained.
Showed up as 58 on my AT Pro. Given me a bit of confidence for future searches.

Awesome find mate.....bet you're well stoked. That first GOLD ring leaves you with a buzz you won't easily forget.
I have no doubt that it's all out there for us to find..... just a good positive attitude, a dedication to swinging the coil whenever you can, learning your machine from top to bottom, and a wee bit of local research..........it's all out there to find!
I look forward to seeing more pics of your finds......keep it up.....and well done!

Nice. Not a bad return on half an hours effort.
Hopefully my gold ring is only half an hour away!

Great find and I am sure that you will be happy with it...now you need more for your box of treasures...maybe taken off by some nefarious fellow to hide the fact that he was married and who was there for some nefarious reason with some nefarious female - serves him right...Did I say that?

Or maybe he caught his wife having an affair, or cheating on him. Went for a walk to clear his head & then thought, stuff this, & took the ring off & biffed it as far away as he could. ......

Either way Alanz1, his loos your gain. Congrats on the find

Good luck out there

JW :)

You're absolutely right!! I wondered where I'd left the bloody thing.

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

I wonder how much gold we are missing with some of the low numbers it reads on our machines. Silver often shows a much higher number on my machine. The silver shilling last night I found read 87 on my teknetics, but the gold coin I found a few days ago was a iffy signal and only 61 or so. I could have quite easily passed over the gold coin signal and moved on. Pays to dig everything I guess.

Yeah. I was surprised with this gold ring I found reading 58, 59.
I quite often find tear tabs around that number.
Like you say, it pays to dig everything.
