Anyone use Wireless headphones with there detector ?

The few times I have been out i wish I had a pair as the cord to my Earbuds arn't that long and get ripped out every now and then.. :( (Extension on the way but may still be a pain)

I did see a post on another forum about a pair of Headphones called Rapoo H3070's that apparently have very little or no delay and are recommended for the price concious.

I see Deal Extreme sell the brand and are $40.20 US which includes shipping.
Rapoo H3070's

Anyone else have any recomendations on wireless headphones ?

Does your detector have a wireless function?

Wouldn't need to with the Rapoo H3070 headphones.

It has a Transmitter (3.5mm-jack/mini USB port)

Interesting.
The box does'nt look waterproof (rain and dew).

Mind you I find headphones with a decent curly cord are much less hassle than buds.
The straight cord on buds do seem to get tangled and rip your ears out.

The headphones have arrived.

My initial tests with music and tones etc shows no noticeable delay whatsoever.

If I get a chance today i will test with the T2.

I use wireless headphones too, TDK brand, I heard about them on an American forum, but sourced a pair new from Trade Me. They are nice and light, and the transmitter unit is small, about 50mm x 20 x 30. It comes with an adapter to fit both headphone jack sizes and just plugs onto the detector and stays there fine. Cost was just over $100 with shipping and they work well. They are cheaper on US sites but by the time you pay for shipping and GST etc and have to deal with NZ Customs........
The types used for gaming apparently have a delay built in, but these don't seem to delay at all. They were well liked by the guys on the American forum too.
I hate headphone wires, as in the bush they catch on things constantly, and even when you put the detector down you are still tied to it, which can be annoying too.
Just need Fisher to bring out a wireless coil kit for the GB Pro and I will be sweet!

Alphacity in Auckland have the Rapoo 3070 ..

http://www.alphacity.co....2&products_id=108112

The price works out to just under $70 including gst and delivery. I ordered Sunday and will have it Tuesday.

I am looking forward to try it as I too gave up pushing through the bush around Thames trailing a cord. There are some exciting finds to be had in areas of dense regrowth where once an old timer had a camp. The army had camps here too during the first world war so lots of stuff to find in the dense undergrowth, but the cord is impossible.

I'll give it a trial and report back

I see they also sell my TDK ones but quite a bit dearer than the ones I got off Trade Me. NUGGY
Just looked on Trade Me again and they are even more expensive on there. The dealer I got mine from is not advertising at present.

Yeah Nuggy I looked at those... at 3 times the price I thought I would try the Rapoo first.... see if the concept actually works for me. The advantage of the TDK apart from build quality etc is the battery life....a VERY big advantage in my opinion.... but we shall see :)

Ok here are my first impressions of the Rapoo 3070 in use with the Fisher Gold Bug Pro + 5" coil.

They are quite well made, comfortable and light to wear. The narrow band is more comfortable over a cap.
Easy to access the on/off/volume controls while wearing them. More than enough max volume.
The transmitter is small and sits nicely in the audio socket of the detector. In use I had it connected and flipped up to rest on the larger audio socket of the Gold Bug.

Audio quality is excellent from the computer playing music and movies.

The audio is not so nice on the detector.
It has a scratchy quality which is disconcerting to start with after using quality wired headphones.... But after ten mins I got used to it and started to enjoy the experience of NO CORDS.

The headset runs quiet when there is no audio being transmitted but when a signal comes along there is a slight crackle in the background. At least the good signals stand out. Which in time maybe a blessing...we shall see.

In all metal mode with the threshold just audible the sound is not "clean" but kind of "throaty" but I got used to it quickly. In Disc mode it's clean silence 'til it transmits then a slight crackle and pop...

My testing was done in the back yard and the possibility of wifi, cables and phone interference causing the crackle can't as yet be discounted.

All in all I love them.... so far.

Hi Apostle40 -

How are you finding the Rapoo 3070?

I am now in the process of trying to find wireless headphones - Can you give me your honest opinion on them please?

Cheers

Hey good review, thought about the wireless but wondered about any EMI interference. So I take it that you detector works fine ? :) With no jumpy behavior ?
Good luck out there :)

I would have to agree with Life Jockey above.

They do tend to distort the sounds from the detector but you do get use to it.

Love the freedom they offer having no wires.
