Here's a couple of photos that i took while flying on a helicopter trip for work.

The second shot is looking up Moke Creek. You can see Sefferstown perched on the hillside in the middle, with some sluicings further up.

The first shot is pretty much looking along where the Moonlight fault runs. Looking back from Moonlight Creek, over Gill creek and out to moke lake and lake wakatipu in the far distance.

Absolutely amazing country. Wish I had access to a chopper so I could scout out likely locations, but I suppose you have to earn that.

Anybody spot JW down there somewhere?

I don't know - Simon claims he hasn't got a secret gold mine and now he's posting photos taken from his private helicopter (sorry, "helicopter trip for work")?! :P

Would be pretty awesome scoping out areas from the air! Cheers for the photos :)

yeah it would seem like fun to own a helicopter and go where you wish. i bet it's not as simple as that when you want to go landing on others land, i'm thinking doc and the parks.

from the air out there you can see all the rock strata up the mountains. it's all tilted with a dip to the west.

Hi Gary, Ha ha. You arent far off the mark there mate. Not far from there at all, as the crow flies. There is a LOT of great gold country in that location.

Cool pics Simon. Thanks for that. It certainly is a mission getting in to those areas & really needs a weekend at least camping in there.

Cheers

JW :)

yeah, we were meant to go to sutherland falls over milford way but a snowstorm saw us only get as far as a ridge above the greenstone outlet. went down to mavora and along the von and lochy. flew over the hobbit filming too. amazing seeing the old river terraces behind those mountains. a very big one where the wakatipu drained down through mavora.
