As you probably know, Ash and I took a trip to the coast last weekend. It included 3 different spots but the best for this gold was Goldsborough.
I bought the wee necklace thing for the wife to put our gold in. I've found If i come home with a gift then i'll be allowed to go away again. Heh.:)

Here's a bottle of recycled gold from computer chips. It's been recycled in Brazil. I have no idea what the gold weighs but it is as thin as anythig. It really is amazing how thin gold can get. I took one of these flakes out and rolled it up. It was just a speck! I can get these bottles for $30 if anyone wants one for curiousity.

Nice gold there and the nicklace is a brilliant idee, just to keep the golddigger happy too. Goldsborough is blue-bottom country, most of the gold is on the false bottom made up of blue clay. I've seen some nice gold coming out of the tunnels (not much overburden to bedrock) just upstream from the campground. All the creeks in the area are auriferous right to the top and some tops have dry diggins too.

Thanks for that. Thats very helpful. We noticed the clayish bottom. Does the gold not stick into it? We had trouble digging down without digging into it as we didnt want clay going through the sluice. We didnt go up the creek very far so didnt see the tunnels. We just mostly prospected near the camp where the two creeks meet as I saw someone getting good colour there last year when we came over. Will be definately be going there for a more extensive play. It has easy access for the mrs whilst her back heals too sh she can go next time. I am lucky in the fact she enjoys prospecting too and is better than me with a pan! Guess who pans out the concentrates when I get home? ;) I thought the necklace thing was cool also....they had another type also with frilly bits round the edge and you can get them full or empty.

i've found most of the gold is down in the first inch of the blue bottom. We used a bucket and a paint mixer to make a slurrey and then feed it through the sluice box.

Some nice gold there - good on you.

As for women and panning, it's been my experience that they often do very well due to a greater store of patience than us (ahem *coughs* alas not always the case). That said it's possible that a gold pan could resemble some variety of kitchen implement and therefore feel familiar to them but then I wouldn't wish to cause too much offence.

you are right the good woman should be put on the pan weather gold or fry pan an apron tied behind their back to the tow bar when the truck is parked in the river helps keep their mind of the task in hand only untie them when they offer to boil the billy for coffee but keep the ancle tie on they may skip out on you

2 frames of mind weather to keep them bare footed and pregnent although getting them into the preggy stage is good on a cold night

anyway when working the parpa base try to stay of by not walking on it , it pushes the gold into the top of the soft parpa

Well done with the gold & a nice idea for the better half. Good brownie points. You will go a long way with that one. Wait until you get a nugget necklace for her.....

Good luck out there
