Hi Guys, Forecasters are predicting snow for Central Otago high country so on sunday I went up into the hills before the snow arrives. The ski fields could certainly do with some though. Hit some old sluiced workings & was rewarded with 8 little bits for 1.5 grams. The larger ones are still eluding me of lately.

Hi there Phil, Thanks mate. The ground is actually better than it has been but due to the snow forecast I made the most of getting to this spot while the snow we did have has all but gone.
How have you been, have you been getting out & in to the gold??

Good luck out there

Always good to see other people out and about, I thought we had seen the last of the snow for the season, guess I'll still being seeing a few more boards and skis through the airport yet, since when does a snowboard or set of skis weigh 30 kgs? Ranting sorry, I hate the snow, could go detecting all the time if didn't have snow!! P.S please don't say It's good for the economy, it's no good for my back. Good to see there is still easy pickings down central way too, another month or so and I'll making a few trips way down there also. Keep at it! Am I right to assume these were away from the waterways, they just don't look like the flat bits I've been finding lately.

Hi there digahole, I would say we are a long way from seeing the last of the snow. It is only july afterall. Still a long way to go with winter.
I wouldnt say they are EASY pickings down central way. No gold is easy. The bits are quite flat & werent very far from a water way. In fact they were on old higher riverr terraces. The one piece by itself top left is in fact very flat & thin & you would be gobsmacked as to where I found it. Thousands would have walked on it, literally.
Thanks for your comments.

Good luck out there

JW :)
