Nice one again Poohbear. The medalion is cool but the gothic florin is just as cool. Im right into those old silvers, they are such a prized find. In sayin that they are both rare.

Hi Chris

Your Gothic Florin is your best find from a dollar and cent perspective - How many of thwe Queens Royal vsiti medals do you have - If it has a hole in top for a suspension ring then it will be copper and I have so quite a few here - they are a dime a dozen so your silver coins are worth more.

Hi graham,i only have the one visit medal...and yes it has the hole in to top for the blue ribbon thing to attach to it...there should be plenty around , apperantly they were given to every school kid in 1953 to commemorate the queens visit..

How ever they are selling for around 20.00 online..lol..

A nice item Chris, and with a really nice dark green patina. So many of the buried copper/bronze items we find are corroded as you know but thats a beautiful smooth and clean example. I quite fell in love with it when I handled it at the meeting. Definitely one for the collection.

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.
