You don't want to ask NZdigger how he did today.....believe me, you really don't.

Put it this way. I got 52 bucks in gold spends, 18 silvers, and scores of old pennies, a total of over 170 coins.
Steve blew me out of the water. No contest. I'm still reeling from the experience!!!

Oh it happened.

He'll put his pics up in his own time I'm sure but it'll take him a while to clean them all!!!

As he counted them up, all I could say was "this is obscene" !!

You'll get the full story tomorrow I reckon.

lol,not in the actual park itself, the gala street reserve,i figure if they can drive giant pegs and poles for all the circus tents and carnival gear into the ground then it should be okay to look for a few coins.ive found quite a lot of spendables there.

yea never really looked at it like that.Im pretty sure no one is allowed to dig on council land couldnt find any info on the icc site,i usually go to out of the way places hence my lack of good finds.
Went to go at otepuni gardens one sat morning and as i walked over the stopbank there was heaps of dirty plugs not filled in properly,I hightailed it out of there before i got the blame. Then I was at a playground in the barkchips when a parks ranger stormed up asking me if i was the one digging holes all over town as they were on the look out.
So ive been cautious as of late.
What do you think keywikiw?

Lol,well i certainly dont leave holes all over the place, im very careful as to how i dig and replace plugs, you cant even see them when im finished in an area so now im curious as to who has been digging bad plugs.

nope, i dont have a pinpointer, the goldbug does an excellent job in pinpointing mode of finding dead center, then i use a mercator knife to probe the ground to find target.I mainly only dig as deep as my blade will reach into ground.I realise ill miss a lot but I dont mind.Im not greedy.

yes i used to use a pinpointer but now have a gold bug and dont feel the need to carry a pinpointer esp when using small coil.

i find the depth isnt always on the money though

Had a look at the mercator knife on trademe, and looks just what I was looking for, so I bought one just now. Hopefully will arrive this week. Cheers tony. P.S. I like your view on things.
