Hi guys, Went out to some old sluiced workings on sunday & tried an older model 14" Nugget Finder fiberglass mono coil that I have had for a while but had never used. I have been all over these workings with a multitude of smaller coils. All mono's. 6" Coiltek, 8" Minelab Commander, 10" X 5" coiltek, 11" Minelab Commander, 12" X 7" Nugget Finder
& found gold with all of them. I thought I would give the 14" coil a go to see if there was anything of size at a bit of depth that was beyond the reach of the other coils I had used. I targeted deeper looking ground.
This was the result. 5 pieces for 7 grams.

They werent all that deep & I scratch my head as to why none of the other coils picked them up. Especially the smaller piece. The small piece is nice & water worn & has no quartz attached were as the rest are pretty rough & shotty & have quartz still attached. Two very different sources but in the same area. Makes you wonder at the whys & where fores..... The mysteries of gold deposits.

Here is a pic my wife Robyn took the other morning from the place where we are living at Lake Hayes. Stunning.

Happy hunting

Hi there poohbear, Yes it is a beautiful spot & I have to pinch myself every day that I get up & see it. I am sure your gold days will come....just a matter of making it happen. Thanks :)

Hi there Mathias, I see your posts on the other forum. Good to see you on there. It certainly has a lot more happening to do with gold. I cant believe how quiet this site is on the gold front. There must be members active out there looking for & finding gold even though it is winter. Be nice to see others finds posted up here to keep things alive.

Good luck out there

JW :)

G'day Nuggy, VERY good to see you on here. Long time between drinks. Welcome to the site & look forward to your input & thanks for your little story. We need more of that kind of thing.

I dropped in to Lanny's "Bedrock & Its Mysteries" postings the other day, long time since I had done so. Good for the catch up. I havnt been active on there for a lonnnnnnggggg time.

Good luck out there

jw: i'd post some pics if i was finding something worth showing.

done a heck of a lot of digging lately but no gold.

did some flood gold at the shotover but you don't want to see that. there's flood gold there for the taking but not too exciting scraping it up.

Hi JW

Managed to get my 24 pieces of silver so far this month, but no Gold. Like most places in the country, there has been plenty of water in the rivers to stir things up, now we just need some fine days, lower water levels and a bucket of enthusiasm to go and get our just rewards.

Keep those pics coming.

Some nice pieces of gold there! This wouldn't be the sluice workings you took me too a few years back would it? I'm hoping to get away this weekend for a play :)

G'day Simon, Even some pics & a bit of a story of what you are doing.....gold or no gold. I am sure a lot of members would be interested in what you are doing & how you are going about it & gear that you are using, & I am sre you could show a bit of colour of flood gold. I have to admit that I am going no where near the water for a while yet.

Good luck out there

JW :)

Hi Gary, You guys sure have had some crap weather. We are back to - 5 frosts but at least we get beautiful days out of it, & the job I am building is now getting a peak of sun during the day & getting a little more each day. :)

Good luck out there

JW :)
