hi does anybody know or had a read out of 85 on dis on the gold bug?
Found a bent length of rod that is really light, thinking it is a alloy or maybe titainium,it has notches in it and is about 9mm thick.
Gave a faint signal and was 5 inches down.

85 on the goldbut is normally the silver range..like the half crowns..and of course the silver rings..in saying that i have found other crap in that range depending on depth..but mostly the silver rings and bigger silver coins.

Will most likely be alluminium...it shows up pretty high on the display and is light. More likely than titanium.

Chrischch the signals on the F2 are different than the signals on the goldbug... but yes up in the mid to high 80's you get alot of aluminium and other stuff....but when i had my goldbug most of my silver rings and bigger silver coins were in the 85 range....my first half crown out of hagley was 85 on the nose....as were 9 10th of my silver rings...with the goldbug you have to listen for the different pitches as well as looking at the numbers....

another number on the goldbug to watch for if you are coin/relic hunting is 79.....if you get a solid 79 0 to 3 inches deep with a midrange tone it is normally a 1 or 2 dollar coin....4 inches and deeper a 1 cent or older 1 penny or half penny....but if it is a solid 79 0 to 3 inches deep with a High pitch dont be surprised to pull a twist top out of the ground because with the high pitch and that number that is what it normally is.

My understanding is that for a given size and shape the higher the conductivity of the metal the higher the number. However a big chunk of any metal, or a big cloud of rust will trick the computer and it will give a big number.

Yes this is true, the other day i was on a little beach edging and i was getting 85,s for large rusty pieces of steel. On a different note, rgmcbrid, what is the difference between the gb se and gb pro and is there a way to upgrade the software on just a normal gb.?Is it worth paying the extra couple hundred?

keywikiwi incase robert doesnt get to answer i will....the only diff between the Gb se and the GB pro is that the gb pro has the updated software.. AS far as i know you cant update the software on the gb se...so basically they are both the same machine just the pro with the update... i havnt used the pro yet so not sure of any real diff in how it acts....

As for weather it is worth the extra 100 bucks it depends on who you talk to... acording to one of fishers own techs the diff between the two machines doesnt realy justify the money.

but there are those that prefer to have the updated software like Ash T for instances..and he seams to be doing allright with it..
but the two machines are that closly matched that i think it would come down to the user.

Hope this helps
