Hi

It is under claim by one of the forum members, you might need to search through some of the posts but there was a comment by the claim owner that he would not be happy if someone went on without him knowing

Kiwisouth, I think that was the Baton.

Goldengirl, If you click on the "Permit Map" at the top of the page, you will then get the Permit Map. Zoom in to see if there is a claim on where you want to go.

Then, if you do some research as to where you can go to sluice or pan, you will find that legally, you can only go to a public fossicking area or work on a claimed area held by someone else, with their permission.

In practice however................................................

Hi GG-There is currently a claim submitted on the Tadmor.Go to the permit map and look for submitted claims and you will find it.54430 Mike Evans.
Mike Reedy has a claim on almost the entire Wangapeka downstream of the Buddhist retreat down to the Motueka and also on the Baton just down from the ford again down to the Mot.
He does allow fossicking on the top 4 k of the Baton claim as long as you ring him first-his number is on the shoutbox @ the top of the forum contents.

Hi GG,
you are welcome to have a go up the Wakamarina, Canvas town,
Got a claim @ Pear Tree Flat, about 2.7 kms past the Pinedale motor camp, turn right down gravel access road just in front of the sign Light No Fires,
Claim stops up stream just above All Nations creek,
No motorised gear, sulice box and pan no problems
cheers Steve
