any ideas for a water pump (not petrol) and relatively cheap for a small highbanker i was thinking one of those boat bilge pumps or a large outside water feature pump but not sure water kind of gph/lph you need for it to work well thanks mark

i have 3 bilge pumps.

i think you generally need the big 3000gph one. there's not a lot of flow so you don't get much head height so you need the sluice as low as possible.

and i think because of the flow rate you need to pre classify.

i paid about 100 bucks for the 3000gph model. smart marine have a good range and ok prices.

If you can get a hold of a long length of that riffle pipe that you used for your DIY sluice and you have a stream with a good enough fall you could go gravity dredging or just feed the water into your highbanker.

Check this link out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLyL5fTbnes

I saw the same riffle pipe for sale at Bunings about $200 for 30M. Thought that the whole concept of gavity dredging really interesting, has it's limitations, sure but with no motors and just a tube in a stream very simple.
