Monos will be more sensitive that an equivalent sized DD Some of the Australian forums do talk more bullshit than gold prospecting, but you might want to check out this one. It's good. http://www.golddetecting.4umer.net It has heaps of detecting information, and if you have a look in the "all about coils" section, you'll find some top info on coil size etc. Cheers and Good luck detecting nzgold

On areas that are shallow to bedrock, or on bedrock, your 10x5 will be best. On deeper ground, you should use the bigger of the two, the 11". I'd reccommend that for a start you get good at using the coils that you've got, before buying any new ones. Cheers :)
