hi guys,glad to find a polite gold forum here in nz,unlike our austrailian cousins.just wanting some advice,this summer i'll be detecting on the coast with my oldschool 2100d,it came with a standard 11"dd and a 10-5"dd.whats the preferred coil for nz conditions mono or dd and should i get a larger coil than i already have for my arsenal.thanks swing low

NZ ground is generally very quiet, so unless EMI from powerlines etc. is bad, you could probably do better with a mono. Monos will be more sensitive that an equivalent sized DD
Some of the Australian forums do talk more bullshit than gold prospecting, but you might want to check out this one. It's good. http://www.golddetecting.4umer.net It has heaps of detecting information, and if you have a look in the "all about coils" section, you'll find some top info on coil size etc.

Oh sorry forgot to add, coil size depends a lot on where you're detecting. On areas that are shallow to bedrock, or on bedrock, your 10x5 will be best. On deeper ground, you should use the bigger of the two, the 11".
I'd reccommend that for a start you get good at using the coils that you've got, before buying any new ones.
