There is no one number that gold will come up as I've had gold below 20 and up to 70. depends on depth and size of gold. the one i got that was below and around 20 was a flat 3.6 grammer and a few other bits in a crvice with the flat piece on its side so the detector had a large surface area to detect. Also the gold was only under a cm or so of sand! On the other hand i got a 1.8 grammer a while back which changed the numers only slightly from the background rock which was around 80. That nugget was at the limits of the detectors range depth wise so only had a slight effect on the detector. Hope that clears it up a bit.
