Mangles River - seeking advice

I am looking at doing some prospecting on and around the Mangles River, is anyone familiar with the area? I am thinking of perhaps small dredging operation or the likes (alluival/Placer), does anyone know the prospects of gold there or has anyone got a cliam there currently (or in the area). I would then proceed to go through the motions of applying a prospecting permit etc... but I know it's a bit of a process. I am still overseas, but looking to come back soon to do some discovery type activities in several areas, I wanted to see if you guys have any experience in the area mentioned. The Mangles river is in the Tasman district, around Murchison/Longford in the Mangles Valley. Not many claims in there at present (got a few) but looks like lots of potential (as do lots of areas :)...... Anyway any advice or response greatly appreciated. NH
