I reckon where you can do as much of the work yourself, depending on what type of permit you require, as the agent is just another middle man with his finger in the pie, and all you will be doing is fattening a Swiss bank account and paying somebody's rent in the Cayman islands, but I am sure there are some good ones, do a thorough search on any business you deal with, this site may also help find an agent http://www.business.govt.nz/companies

Simon.

For once we should take KiwiKeith seriously.

He is absolutly correct in recommending Vivienne.
She is really wonderful.
Vivienne make a nightmare process, so simple.

Go for it.
Good luck.

Do you mind sharing how much the process cost from end to end? Thanks for the recommendation!

gavin,

the process has no limit.

a lot depends on your location and land ownership.

gold permit $3400 up front. annual fee. annual paperwork on progress etc. plus so many dollars per hectare claimed per year.

agent to complete paperwork $1000 - $1500. you could do this yourself but i think it is easier with someone familiar with all the ins and outs.

linz - manage crown lands - access fees.

doc - access fees, annual fees

regional council - monitoring fees

fish and game - perhaps a duck or a fish count, sure to be some annual costs

historical (hysterical) places - will prob want to get some surveys of historic stuff - more money

and it goes on.

in some areas it is easier to set up than others. eg. to get in a 5 or 6 inch dredge may be a permitted activity on certain waterways.
