Hi All

I just found this site and forum and gold fossicking has always been an interest of mine although more armchair than in the field I have to admit. I am sure I will learn more on here and hopefully also become a useful contributor in time. Other interests include travel, tramping and hunting. I live in Auckland so face a bit of a drive to carry out most of my interests.

Hello Vince.

I see that you are based in Auckland, and are self employed too?

This is just to say "Hi" to a fellow N.Islander.

My home patch is Coromandel, and yes, I do occasionally get out into the gold areas here.

Cheers---Colin.

Gooday Guys.

Just a thought here.

Seeing as our Islands are divided by water, and so are our main gold bearing areas.
It could be sort of advantageous for us "Northys" to set up a discussion page which relates solely about our main and closest area of fossicking. I.E the "Hauraki Goldfields" of the Coromandel Peninsula.

What do you think?

Cheers---Colin.

Gidday Colin

Yes, I am self employed as a mortgage broker but my weak joke is that mortgage broking is more about broke than mortgages these days! Actually business isnt so bad but not what it used to be. I also mow lawns 1 day per week as training that I get paid for.

Just gathering info at moment and am looking at actually doing some fossicking around Christmas or early next year.

Cheers for reply!

Real good idea and I dont think anyone would take any offence at this suggestion as it keeps the info and discussions on each area clearly separated and improves the forum for all to use without any confusion re what area we are talking about.

Do we include the Northland gold bearing areas in with Coromandel and surrounds?

Maybe moderators should move this to general discussions area?

Hi Vince.

I'm guessing that at my age, I wont be using your services now. :)
But I'm also pretty certain that there are persons here who could?

About separating info,s for either Islands goldfields.

Coromandel was only offered as a suggestion. Of course all N.I. fields would/should be included, as not everybody can get to the Coromandel fields easily, and may have other sites which are closer to their doorstep.

We will gauge this suggestions validity, by response!

Cheers---Colin.

Feel free to kick off a general discussion about locations and splitting them in the forums - if there's enough people wanting it I'll oblige ;)
