I popped into the Auckland University Library and asked at the reception if they had any geologyical reports on Thames. I figured that if they taught the subject, there should be something in their Library. The receptionist punched it in and come up with a couple of books and then said they are in our special collection. Are you a member of the Universty ? I said no. She said well it's really only for students. I said why ? She said all Universities are like that. So I said well us tax payers are paying for your library. There was a purse and then she said oh alright then. She wrote down the call number and pointed where to go. After showing some I.D. and waiting about 15 minates they found the book. I spent 3 1/2 hrs reading through the 1868 report, making notes and sketching maps. And parking rates have gone up in Auckland. For 4 1/2 hrs it was $29. Whats the parking rates like around the rest of the country ?

Yeah parking charges in the city can be a real bummer.
I guess next time you will just have to read and sketch faster. :-)
Good on the Receptionist for giving you a break though.

Too bad you couldn't take the book out. You could have brought it and read it in Thames, where parking is free.
