Well, I had to take a trip out to Tai Tapu to collect some metal bar I won on trademe and on the way back home was going down Lincoln Road and wondered if Poohbear was at Hagley. So I sent him a text and he replied that he wasn't but FoiledAgain was.

So I headed to the spot and parked the car and saw two headlamps out in the park. I got my detector out of the boot and made a bee-line for the lights. I wasn't swinging my detector but had held the coil just off the ground beside me - just in case.

Well, the Garrett gave me the high-conductiivity "boing" sound when I was about half way to the lights, so I stopped and dug it and out popped a 1933 threepence. Oooo. That's gonna piss the boys off!

So I cover up the hole and then run the coil over it again and it's still giving a lower reading. Hmmm. Pop it back oipen dig a bit more and out pops a 1940 penny, then a 1934 threepence, a 1934 sixpence a 1942 threepence and a 1933 Shilling.

Which was nice.

So I head over to the lads to tell them the goon news, and I get another BOING and dig a 1874 shilling. Boy, were they impressed!

Had a great night - on top of those got a 1940 threepence and 1919, 1933 1934 1934 shillings. 11 silvers in all - my best result in ages.

Well done Andy. Me, I'm experiencing a bit of a silver drought at the moment. ;-(

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

So was I, until last night! :)

Sometimes you start to wonder if you're hit the "ignore silver" button on your detector by mistake.
