I'm guessing i was the only person to have walked around Cornwall park with a metal detector, I thought it was playing up at first but it was coins---98 in total in just over 5 hours from walking around the bases of trees. that's more coins than i find in 6 months back home! a lot of 1c/2c/5c/10c/20c, some George V/VI penny's, eliz II penny's, a 3 pence, a shilling,$27 in $1/$2coins(should keep me stocked up on batteries for a while) a small silver ring, a sterling silver badge marked E.E.B.C handicap singles? a load of buttons including a New Zealand forces one with a cannon on the front that i cant date? and my first ever silver coin- a 46 shilling which is .500 silver i think, just done a quick Google search on it.
going to head back out tonight to a different park, my hands are sore from digging plugs! so only an hour or 2.......

silver ratio 1:100

That indicates virgin territory. :)

Now you've pulled out 80% of the non-silver coins in the park and 10% of the silvers, it'll be different next time.

Hi Scotlad
I used a metal detector nearly 15 years ago in that park and had great success also, but obviously missed alot that you have picked up. Well done, I remember 5 hours with a result of 2 tons of tear tabs, 30 pennies, 3 gold rings and a heap of decimal change which was still usable then. I have always thought I should have gone back there for a follow up, but left Auckland...thank god....
Keep up the good work mate...

Always a good idea to send someone in beforehand to pull up all the pulltabs. :)

Maybe there's a conspiracy out there somewhere - chinese knock-off detectors sold on trademe that are optimised for pulltabs and ignore silvers.

Woot. Business proposal coming up...

Well um ... I think you should know that as far as I know Cornwall park in Auckland has a no dig policy.
So hopefully you were in another Cornwall park somewhere.

WE all Hope you are not in Auckland Cornwall park as it has No DIG + double protection under historical ACT + Herritage Trust.

I was Denied even surface scan for freshly dropped coins there.

yeah its Cornwall park in Hastings. penny saver- there is still a few tons of tear tabs there! had to discriminate everything left of the 1c icon on the Ace so risked missing gold and the likes but they were everywhere, still fooled by a few though.

just realized penny saver is talking about the park in Auckland.

is there a web site listing parks with a no dig policy?

As i have advsied- you need to check the website i gave on your initial topic.
Then once you arrive in the park- if there is an administration office, then you have to ask there.(usually for trust parks, or special parks)
if it is council park- then just as per local council :-)
