Contain your excitement, my son.

The gold bracelet turned out to be plated, and thinly plated at that. No hallmarks. :(

At least I broke my "no silver in ages" curse.

handle from silver spoon with Birmingham hallmark and engraved "JS" (I think)
1882 shilling (probably the earliest silver I've found that could be accurately dated)
1934 6p
3d's 1939, 1942, 1903, 1920

So mustn't grumble.

Plus that token - HJ HALL Christchurch. Same as this one http://museumvictoria.co...s-new-zealand-circa-1862 but in very poor condition - not even round anymore.

One thing I noticed about the coins - they all have one side in worse condition than the other, dirt-wise. Must be either the soil type in that part of the park, or maybe the type of tree they were under.

If it's for a furnace, it would be quartz rather than glass.

Might be a mill-related object?

ya very nice going andrew..you guys all got silver i think...lol....it just wasnt my night for coins...as for that looking glass thing..if i look through it at my fingers
0 to say 3 inches away they are blured..then at about 4 or 5 inches they are clear as and i can see every little mark on them then move them further out and they go all blured again...and just sitting up properly and looking through it at my keyboard it is all blury until i get to about 4 inches away...so maybe some sort of close up magnifing thing..lol

Welldone with the finds all :)

I'm finally getting a whole day off tomorrow ( Friday 04/05/12),
so ill be out for a swing in Hagley for most of the day :D

Planning on getting up 6:00am and heading in not soon after ;)

Sounds like this little area of Hagley is worth a wander so ill be heading that way.

Edit:
Well spent a few hours at LHP, found a couple 1870's coppers,
a 34 sixpence and a few other bits n pieces.
Stopped into Spencer Park on the way home and found a couple more silvers...
Click my blog to read more ;)

One thing Martin and I forgot to mention in the finds list was a live possum! A big red one. In good condition too, no TB rasp.

I was trying to decide whether I should have a lunge at it and hack it to death with my sharpened & serrated trowel but thought the townies would probably get upset.

On Sunday went back to the same area we were in when we finished our night hunt a couple of weeks back. Went around a tree we'd probably all been around already and pulled out a 1933 florin and 1933 shilling 6 inches down and 3 inches apart.

Which was nice.

Great going Andrew! I guess it goes to show no matter how thorough we think a place has been gone over there's still some treasures hiding somewhere! Gotta love finding those silvers!
