A few people have expressed an interest in getting together for a group hunt on Saturday. The logistics of getting everybody together at the same time are a nightmare, some cant be there till mid day, some work till mid afternoon, others need to be home by the afternoon etc. NZPoohbear arranged a similar meet up last Monday, and people came and went in their own time frame but still always seemed to have a small group to work alongside which worked fine. A similar set up would probably be the best way to go this Saturday, and Steve (NZdigger) and myself are going to get there pretty early, around 7/7.30 ish in the Park Terrace carpark and will be searching around Victoria Lake. Feel free to join us and hopefully whatever time you are able to show up, you will find some others to share your time with. The weather forecast is OK, cloudy but dry, and I can hear them silvers calling already, so hopefully we'll see you there.

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

I have to keep early sat morning free for garage sales, at least until I've picked up all the bargains I need to fit out my camper truck. Hope to be there once the sales die off - 11am-ish.

Yay. My garrett pro pointer arrived today! See you on sat. Should make recovery quicker and holes smaller. Hope the car is big enough to bring it all home.

Looks like I will be able to pop out at some point....seems like we will be tripping over eachother - I didn't realise Chch was the detecting hub of NZ :)

Yeah sounds like there are heaps of hunters in Chch.
Maybe a time lapse camera looking down at Hagley park this Saturday may capture
some strange goings on. :-)

As long as it captures a few flashes of silver I'll be happy.

HaHaHa... that would really get people talking... what's going on? what are they looking for? ...so funny.

Ok, I don't have a detector but am interested in seeing how it is done and to pick any tips, so I may pop up at the park also.

Cheers.

Must admit that when I was living in Chch prior to 2007, there were only two of us chatting and detecting. Times have changed. I was down in Chch on Wednesday during the big wet. Sat in an ambulance at the Army Rifle Range at West Melton watching everyone getting wet then stayed at Burnham that night. I took my detector down too but too wet. Took a drive arounf the city, it is definitely a sad looking place but think about all of the possibilities for traesures whenre the old building have been pulled down. Should be someone you can get permission from. And don't forget where the foot paths have been pulled up. The were board wals and dirt frior to concrete. You will be surprised what you might be able to find.

I have an area in Blenheim where an old Dairy Factory has been pulled down to enable the road to be widened. Have to get onto that before it's too late.

Happy hunting folks
